| “The Outsiders Project” Exhibition Melbourne |
12.05.09 |
|
The outsiders dwell on the edge, on the fringe of the acceptable, making their marks independently of the formal codes and conventions of Fine Art. These makers skirt and bridge the realms of graffiti, street, commercial and illustrative art. Often seen as belonging to one or more of these groups, their influence on each other and the broader creative landscape stretches far and wide. It is their unique differences and adaptability that gives them strength as individuals; this variation also blesses their practices with longevity and meaning that grows over time. Whilst their diversity as a group is clear, each artist standing distinctively apart, they are ultimately united as ‘outsiders.' Curated by the amazing and talented [Vexta], this show was held at Kristian Pithie Gallery Melbourne. My work [here].

| Kids Today at MTV Gallery |
4.04.08 |
|
This show curated by Madeleine Boyd and held at MTV Gallery was an art side show for Semi Permanent 2008. It was one of the largest and best art shows I have been to in the last 12 months and really highlighted the breadth and abundance of talented local artists. International participants Kelsey Brookes and Anthony Lister added an extra flavour as did the abundance of alcohol, great bands and general crazy atmosphere and crowd. Pictures of the opening [here]. The art I exhibited was the same body I took to Melbourne for the Nuts show.

My friend B-Rad A.K.A BEASTMAN publisher of WATIM online local art/illo/design zine [www.watim.com] and artist curated this group show in Melbourne. I had heaps of fun the night before the show at Adrian Knotts house in Torquay painting till the wee hours with the boys. The show worked really well - it was a cool balance of styles. The night ended in Hungry Jacks after we rolled out of the Carlton Club, watching a mini riot between some drunk losers and the staff. I managed to stop the whole thing by throwing a coke at the main antagonist from the mezzanine. Art wizardry and heroism. Snap! Opening pictures [here]. My art from the show [here].

| Solo Show at China Heights |
8.06.07 |
|
This was my first show of drawings and paintings and it was a very intense but exciting process for me. I booked the show before I really had any idea what I was going to exhibit. Having lit a metaphorical fire under my own ahem ... arse I then set about working on enough work to fill the huge space at China Heights. In the end I had a range of prints, wallpaper, lampshades, drawings and paintings all loosely exploring voodoo, african art, occult symbolism, fluoro, love, innocence, sacred geometry, top hats, snakes, owls and 18th century hairstyles. The opening was lots of fun and thanks to sponsors Pigs Fly beer and Cutaway Wines there was lots of alcohol to warm up the drenched punters who battled the crazy rain hurricane to arrive! Pictures from the opening [here]. To see the artwork go [here].
